Started by landscapers, for landscapers.

Before launching Wright Manufacturing, Bill Wright started the landscaping company "Lawn Wright". Over the years he had ideas for new mowing technology and invented the grass gobbler in 1983, the Velke Sulky in 1988, and the stand-on mower in 1997. All of his innovations put the landscaper’s needs first.

Wright Manufacturing is an innovative leader in lawn maintenance technology, dedicated to manufacturing the safest, most durable and highest quality lawn equipment in the world. Since its inception over thirty years ago, the company has revolutionized commercial lawn maintenance with products such as the industry-leading Grass Gobbler™ and its revolutionary line of stand-on mowers. As a testament to it's innovation, Wright’s engineering teams have received over 50 U.S. patents with more pending future approval.

If you're in the market for commercial zero-turn lawn mowers for your fleet, Wright is the perfect mower to help grow your business economically. Part of what makes Wright mowers great products start with its bones. From the split steel pulleys to the hydro gear transmission, all Wright products are spec’d with 100% heavy-duty commercial components. This saves your team time and money, season after season.

Benefits of a Wright Mower

Electronic Fuel Injection

Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) is a technology that replaces the carburetor on the engine with a small digitally controlled fuel system that more accurately delivers fuel to the engine based on air temperature, pressure altitude, throttle position, engine temperature, and throttle position. This system can help save up to 20-30% on fuel consumption while also actively managing engine temperature and eliminating the choke control. Some systems are closed loop, meaning there is an oxygen sensor in the muffler continuously feeding back exhaust information to the EFI processor. Closed loop increases the accuracy of the system however under high load conditions the sensor is sometimes not used because the engine may need to run at a higher fuel ratio to meet emissions standards to cool down the engine. Also, some EFI systems also offer an electronic engine speed governor providing a faster response to sudden loads.

Steel Pulleys

Wright pulleys are split steel construction for low inertia and cool running belts. Pulleys are made from a round disk of steel, and a rolling knife is very precisely rolled into the edge of the disk to form the perfectly round V groove. This method makes a pulley that conducts heat away from the belt quickly and, because it's strong and approximately 20% less inertial* than a cast iron pulley, the clutch last longer. All deck pulleys are approximately 1'' larger than other brands, which significantly reduces belt tension and flex. Except for Stander B™ models, pulleys are mounted using taper lock hubs (They are impossible to remove unless you move the two small bolts to the other two holes to jack the pulley off the hub.).
* Less inertia means that less energy is required to start and stop its turning.

Hydraulic Motors

Hydraulic wheel motors convert oil flow into precise axle speed and oil pressure into very high axle torque. Most Wright mowers use pump and motor drive systems instead of transaxles so they can spec a heavier duty system and still position the operator and center of gravity for maximum stability. Many wheel motors are compact enough to fit entirely inside the rear wheels. The Stander ZK™ uses a higher speed piston type motor that efficiently provides high torque through a planetary* reduction system. This Hydro-Gear™ 15cu-in H-Series motor also contains an internal wet disk brake and serves as the oil reservoirs. All other motors are simple and compact gerotor** type motors. Stander X, Sport X, Large Frame Stander® and MMZ use 15cu-in motors. Walk behinds, Small Frame Stander®, Stander Intensity, and Sport Intensity™ use 12cu-in motors. Keeping oil pressure down is critical to cool running and long lasting hydro systems (the higher the wheel motor displacement, the lower the system pressure).

Hydraulic Pumps

Most Wright mowers use hydraulic pumps instead of transaxles so we can position the operator and center of gravity for maximum stability. The axial piston pumps contain a rotating set of pistons. This variable flow type pump provides accurate control of flow and pressure at all times. The ZK and MMZ models use large body pumps that can pump as much as 16ccs per revolution. Stander X, Sport X™ and Large Frame Standers® use 12cc pumps. Walk behinds, Small Frame Standers®, Stander Intensity™ and Sport Intensity™ models use 10cc pumps.

Hydro-Gear Hydro Pumps

When it comes to the hydro-pump, Wright contracts one of the best. Hydro-Gear® was established in 1991 in Sullivan, IL and has been the world's most prominent designer in hydrostatic transmissions for the past two decades. Their hydro-pumps are the industry's leading hydro, piston pumps ever since Hydro-Gear's humble beginnings 20 years ago. The hydro-pump is a device that converts mechanical force and motion into hydraulic fluid power by producing flow through the machine. These hydro-pumps are designed to stand up against rugged jobs and built for superior production for any kind of mower. Hydro-Gear® offers five displacement pumps to fit every need of Wright's mowers.
