Q. While parked, the unit shut down. How do I restart the unit?
A. To restart the electric motor, the software needs to see a “Double Tap” from the traction control levers. Bump both traction levers twice. That will signal the controller to start the machine again, and it will operate as normal. Release the parking brake and go.
Q. Why did the motor slow down or turn off?
A. The e-Dingo is designed to conserve energy when not in use. After about 10 seconds of no activity, the electric motor will slow down. After an additional 30 seconds, the electric motor will stop to conserve battery power. (Standby Mode)
Q. The unit shut down while parked but will not restart using the traction levers. Why is this?
A. If the unit was in “Standby Mode” for an extended period, the key switch will need to be turned off and then on again to run the unit.
Q. I was using the unit in “Inch Mode” and parked it for a while. When restarting, the unit is now “jerky.”
A. Inch Mode decreases the motor speed from the last registered speed. If the unit went into “Standby Mode” while also in “Inch Mode,” the motor speed decreased from the last registered speed when being re-started. If you experience this, cycle the “Inch Mode” switch from “Inch Mode, to “Normal” and Back to “Inch Mode.” The unit will now operate as normal.
Q. Should the battery charger be unplugged from the wall outlet before connecting to the unit?
A. No, The charger should first be plugged into the wall and allowed to power up before being connected to the machine. When charging is complete, the charger can be unplugged from the machine or wall in any order.
Q. Can the unit be washed?
A. Yes. The e-Dingo has been extensively tested and uses high quality, water-resistant electrical connectors. However, just like any machine with electrical or electronic components, high-pressure water should not be sprayed directly at electrical components and connections.
Q. How do I connect the battery charger?
A. The battery charger connects to a charging port in the upper RH rear of the unit. Plug the battery charger into the wall, allow the charger to power up, then pivot the charger port cover out of the way and connect the charger to the machine. (See page 25 of the Operators Manual)
Q. When operating the unit, should the battery be fully discharged before recharging?
A. No. This was a belief from early cellphones. There is no damage done to the battery from recharging the battery from a partial charge. It is actually recommended that if the unit is being operated heavily, the battery charger be connected during breaks and lunch to keep the charge level as high as possible throughout the day.
Q. When the battery is fully discharged, will the unit shut off without warning?
A. No. While the unit depends solely on the battery pack for power, safeguards are in place to prevent the unit from just “Shutting Down” without warning. The battery charge level is always visible on the InfoCenter. Also, if the battery level decreases to approximately 5% during operation, the unit will go into a “slow down” mode. This will allow for any attachments to be lowered and the unit moved to an area where the battery charger can be connected.
Q. The battery is completely dead. Can I connect the charger and move the unit to an area where it can be charged?
A. No. The unit's operation is locked out when connected to the battery charger.
